• We’ll get into the flow of slippery, unpredictable, wonderful watercolor! Students will focus on getting comfortable with loose and tight painting techniques to enjoy the process of watercolor. The basics of materials, value, color and “seeing” your subject will be explored. Weekly subject matter will be taken from reference, direct observation, and imagination, though students are free to choose their own ideas for paintings as well. Quilting with Lizzie Stebbins

Quilt-As-You-Go Log Cabin Session 1:

• January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 19, 26  

With the fast, fun and easy quilt-as-you-go (QAYG) technique, you actually quilt your log cabin blocks as you piece them. This class teaches you how to construct a log cabin quilt and explores several quilt-as-you-go methods close up. When the piecing is finished, so is the quilting! Skill Builder Sampler Quilt Session 2:

This beginner’s class is perfect for new and experienced sewist alike to check out the fun, creative challenge of quilting. See how easy it can be to make beautiful quilt while learning the many techniques for quilt making. Learn to sew a variety of blocks that can be combined into the project size of your choice. 3pm - 5 pm  - Every Tuesday a group of dedicated stitchers of all types gathers at the Art League to stitch and you know what. We have all made some great pieces over the years and love being together to show off our work and get opinions from others.  If you stitch, knit, or cross-stitch please join us. All are welcome. And if anyone is interested in learning basic needlepoint, we have some kits to help you get started with our guidance.

Figure and Portrait with Andres Lopez

From the very beginning of the teaching of fine arts in history, the portraits have figured prominently in the foundation and development of the beginner or advanced student. In these classes, you will be able to acquire knowledge that will undoubtedly improve your skills in these genres of painting. In a friendly environment, our artist and instructor Andres Lopez will help you achieve your goals. It doesn’t matter if you have much, little or no knowledge, these classes are for you. Stained Glass & Mosaics with Federico Scipioni

Federico Scipioni, was taught as a young boy and motivated by his ancestors, who were also artists, in the art of fine glass work. He realized his passion for glass and Italian designs by being surrounded by multiple familial generations of European traditions, influenced by history and art.

Beginner, intermediate, and advanced students will be guided through the process of designing and completing unique stained glass pieces in contrast with learning the rich history behind the art of stained glass.

Come join us Thursday afternoons from 3-5pm to knit and/or crochet with Jenny Baumer. Jenny will provide instruction and guidance on any project you may be working on or have on a time out in your closet. Jenny can also help you pick and start a new project. This reoccurring group is a great opportunity to learn tips and tricks to improve your skills and it is also filled with great people and lots of laughs!

These classes will feature a combination of smart devices, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. The format of the class will be question and answer. Each student will come to class with a list of questions on any of the above devices. We will then proceed, student to student, hearing and answering their questions in an open forum. Welcome to Stacey's Hand Building class. Together we will learn coils, slabs, and pinch pots as well as a variety of tips and tricks to make your hand-built work functional & astounding.  Experimentation with color, texture, and pattern is highly encouraged and will be introduced along the way. Basic ceramic terminology and glazing techniques will also be covered in this class. This class is designed for those who would like to learn to paint for the first time as well as those who have knowledge of color theory and want to continue to paint with Acrylics. My goal is to ensure that I share my knowledge and love of painting to new as well as continuing learners. The lessons will be modeled to meet each participant in the class.

Each class begins with a short lecture accompanied by visual aids that highlight some aspect of fine arts. Learn how to take a blank canvas and turn it into a work of art, using basic principles and techniques as value, composition, and color to bring your canvas to life.
